Kathmandu: The Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, Maha Prasad Adhikari has attended the joint annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund / World Bank. He represented Nepal in the annual meeting held through virtual media from October 7 to 19, 2021.
Governor Adhikari had a bilateral courtesy meeting with the Deputy General Manager of the International Monetary Fund, Bo Lee, on October 12, 2021. During the meeting, global, regional and economic situation of Nepal was discussed.
Also, the delegation of Nepal Rastra Bank participated in the Digital Monetary Revolution of the International Monetary Fund on October 15, 2021. At the conference, Managing Director of the Fund Kristilina Grugiva, Head of BIS Innovation Hub Benoit Koir and Professor Ishwar Prasad of Cornell University spoke about the central bank’s digital currency, private currency, fixed currency and cryptocurrency.
Among the various programs conducted during the meeting from October 12 to 19 were the end of the Corona epidemic on October 12 and the beginning of participatory resurgence, the brainstorming on the global economy on October 14, bilateral discussions on monetary and capital market segregation on October 18 and economic research on the regional economic situation on October 19. Representatives of the department and the governor’s office were present.
