Kathmandu: Ram Chandra Shrestha is expected to get appointed as the Chief Executive Officer for General Insurance Company. A meeting of the company’s BODs held on 23 June 2021 had decided to appoint Shrestha as CEO. Shrestha is the acting CEO of the company. Prior to joining General Insurance, Shrestha was working for Lumbini General Insurance.
The approval of the regulatory authority Beema Samiti is compulsory for his appointment. The company has submitted an application at the office of the Samiti for the approval.
Insurers are compelled to appoint CEO as the regulatory authority Beema Samiti instructed all the insurers to appoint CEO immediately. Prior to the instruction of the regulator, few insurance company are still operating without appointing a CEO. General Insurance has not appointed a CEO since its inception.
