Kathmandu: A claim of Rs 1.92 billion has been received against the physical damage caused by the recent floods and landslides in different parts of the country.
According to the data collected from the insurance companies, 331 insurance claims application have been received from the insured under property insurance, motor insurance, agriculture and livestock insurance, engineering insurance and miscellaneous insurance from the beginning of the year till July 7 this year, said Rajuraman Poudel, executive director of Beema Samiti.
Out of the total insurance claims of all non-life insurance companies, 141 have property insurance claims of Rs. 693.6 million, motor insurance of Rs. 47.5 million, five claims of marine insurance of worth Rs. 19.81 million, six of agricultural insurance of Rs. 1.62 million and five of livestock insurance. There is a claim of Rs. 15.8 million for two insurance companies and Rs.1.55 million.
Similarly, engineering insurance claims Rs. 107.7 million for 107 projects under construction damaged by the recent floods and landslides, Rs. 117 million for 8 completed projects, Rs. 88.4 million for 18 heavy equipment insurance and Rs. 15.3 million for six other insurances.
