Kathmandu. The licensed insurance companies operating in Nepal have not studied or measured the difference in the wages of men and women at the highest level. <\/p>\n
The Nepal Insurance Authority’s TAG_OPEN_em_8 report “Insurance through a Gender Lens: A Fama Meter Assessment in Nepal” <\/em> has pointed out that there is a lack of systematic monitoring of equal pay for equal work among insurance companies. <\/p>\n
According to the NRA’s study, no life insurance company, non-life insurance company and small life insurance company in the country have been reviewing remuneration on the basis of gender. It has been found that only one out of four micro non-life insurance companies do such a review. <\/p>\n
However, 15 insurance companies in the study acknowledged the possibility of a pay gap between men and women at the highest executive level. Among those who accepted this were 6 life insurance, 4 non-life, 2 short life and 3 small non-life insurance companies. Except for one non-life insurance company that accepted such a risk, all the remaining 14 companies classified it as high risk. <\/p>\n
The report states that the lack of a system to monitor the status of equal pay is a matter of concern. To address this, the authority has recommended the inclusion of gender indicators in its regulatory framework and the implementation of a provision that insurance companies must make the Gender Diversity and Inclusion Report mandatory on an annual basis.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
