Kathmandu. ‘My Generation’ has been launched with the objective of bringing together the genealogy, family relations, culture, calendar, astrology and digital services useful in daily life in a single platform.

Developed on the concept of ‘Continuing Generations Digitally’, My Generation has tried to connect Nepali culture and modern technology in one place while digitally securing the family relationship between different generations. The main attraction of the platform is the family tree. Through this, users can create a multigenerational digital family tree by connecting their parents, grandparents, children, and other relatives. Arrangement has also been made to digitally save photos, memories, family events, and other details related to the family.

My Generation also includes the Nepali calendar and almanac. It provides information about the Vikram Samvat and AD Samvat, tithi, nakshatra, yoga, karan, festivals and dates of family importance.

Another feature of the platform is a matrimonial service called ‘Shubh Lagan’. It has developed a system to suggest potentially similar profiles based on age qualifications, user interests and preferences, and signs of traditional horoscopes and astrological compatibility. Controlled contact sharing has been arranged keeping in mind the confidentiality of personal contact details.

Similarly, the platform also includes horoscopes, planetary transits and traditional astrological calculations, puja rituals, hymns and various cultural materials. Through the Live Nepal facility, services such as weather, foreign exchange rate, earthquake information, radio and maps can be viewed from one place.

For daily use, there are also utility tools such as WINS and Ishwo Sambat mm converter, calculator, Nepal Unicode. Entertainment features like Ludo, Snake & Ladder and various puzzles are also available on the platform.

According to Mukunda Kandel, founder of My Generation, the platform aims not only to build a single family tree application but also to unify family, culture, and useful digital services into a single Nepali ecosystem.

He said that the platform is being expanded with the aim of spreading their family history, relationships, and important memories to the new generation digitally even when family members are living in different countries and places. Technically, the frontend of My Generation is based on modern web technology, while a structured data management system is used.

Services such as attentization, notifications, and cloud best file storage are also included in the platform. Attentification, access control and data privacy have been prioritized to protect users’ personal data and family information.

Currently, the web and PWP versions of My Generation can be used, while the Android app is in the process of preparation. A news section has also been developed on the platform to source the news of credible Nepali media and bring it to the users. My Generation has said that the policy has been taken to include news sources with a web bum, short summary and link to the main news only after getting the formal permission of the concerned media.
