The Department of Commerce, Supply and Consumer Protection has claimed that sugar is being sold at Rs 110 from more than 1,000 outlets in the Kathmandu Valley. <\/p>\n<p>The department has made this claim by issuing a statement today. At a time when there is a shortage of sugar on the eve of the festival, the department has claimed that sugar is easily available. <\/p>\n<p>According to the department, sugar is being sold at Rs 110 per kg from more than 1,000 outlets in Kathmandu including Bhatbhateni, Big Mart and Selsberry. The department has also urged the general consumers not to hoard more sugar as there is an easy and adequate supply of sugar. <\/p>\n<p>The Department issued this notice after various media outlets reported that the floods in the Bhotekoshi River and landslides along the Krishnabhir section of the Prithvi Highway have blocked the road and the shortage of sugar, an essential food item that is widely consumed during the festivals due to the ban imposed by India on the export of sugar.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kathmandu.
