Kathmandu. Current Fiscal Year 2083. In the first month of 2018, life insurance companies have brought in business of more than Rs 26 billion. <\/p>\n

According to the data released by the Insurance Authority of Nepal (NIA) today, 14 life insurers collected a total insurance premium of Rs 26.22 billion in the current fiscal year. In the previous year, 2082. In the previous year, the companies had collected Rs 19.65 billion. The business of the companies increased by 33.44 percent in the review period compared to the previous year. <\/p>\n

During the review period, Nepal Life Insurance Company was the largest business-insurer, while National Life Insurance Company was ahead in terms of business growth. The business of all insurers has increased during the review period compared to the previous year. <\/p>\n

In the current fiscal year, Nepal Life has collected a total insurance premium of Rs 6.99 billion. In the previous year, the company had collected a total insurance premium of Rs 6.19 billion. The company’s business increased by 12.93 percent in the review period compared to the previous year. <\/p>\n

Similarly, National Life Insurance Company is the second largest business insurer. During the review period, the company collected a total insurance premium of Rs 3.99 billion. In the previous year, the company had collected a total insurance premium of Rs 43.39 crore. The company’s business has increased by 820.16 percent during the review period compared to the previous year. This growth is also the highest among life insurers. <\/p>\n

National Life is in the third position in terms of attracting more business. In the previous year, the company collected a total insurance premium of Rs 2.41 billion, compared to Rs 2.91 billion in the review period. The company’s business increased by 20.65 percent during the review period compared to the previous year. <\/p>\n

Similarly, Himalayan Life earned Rs 2.29 billion in insurance premiums, Life Insurance Corporation (LI) Rs 2.14 billion, Surya Jyoti Life Insurance Rs 1.51 billion and Asian Life Insurance Rs 1.11 billion in the review period. Himalayan Life Insurance earned 13.11 percent, LIC Nepal 4.98 percent, Surya Jyoti Life Insurance 21.90 percent and Asian Life Insurance 17.14 percent in the review period. <\/p>\n

Likewise, Citizen Life earned Rs 96.01 crore, IME Life Insurance Rs 90.94 crore, Sanima Life Insurance Rs 85.43 crore, Prabhu Mahalaxmi Life Rs 76.11 crore, Reliable Nepal Life Insurance Rs 70.66 crore, MetLife Insurance Rs 60.28 crore and Sun Nepal Life earned Rs 46.69 million in the review period. Compared to the previous year, the business of all the companies increased in the review period. <\/p>\n

Life insurers have issued 3,85,921 insurance policies in the current fiscal year. In the previous year, the companies had issued 2,84,176 insurance policies. The number of insurance policies issued during the review period has also increased by 35.80 percent compared to the previous year. <\/p>\n
