KATHMANDU. Global credit rating agency AM Best has maintained a steady outlook on the global life reinsurance segment, citing strong underwriting, investment returns and strong capitalization in large companies. <\/p>\n
In its report titled ‘Market Segment Outlook \u2013 Global Life Reinsurance’, AM Best said that the reinsurance market is grouped. “Some global reinsurance companies account for the majority of the market,” the report said. <\/p>\n
AM Best says that the number of offshore annuity reinsurance companies has increased in recent years. For example, existing companies are increasingly using offshore companies. <\/p>\n
These companies are mainly focusing on block transactions that include asset-intensive reinsurance and legacy annuity books. Private equity firms and asset managers are also becoming more active in life reinsurance. This is increasing the competitive pressure in the market. <\/p>\n
“Private equity and asset managers are increasingly entering the life reinsurance space and facing increasing competitive pressures,” said Edward Kohlberg, director of AM Best. \u2019<\/p>\n
AM Best said the financial performance in the reinsurance sector remains strong, supported by solid underwriting and favorable investment yields. The combined operating scale with technical, actuarial and risk management expertise is expected to support further growth. <\/p>\n
