Kathmandu. Banks and financial institutions will not need prior approval from Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) to relocate banking offices to areas affected by floods in the Bhotekoshi River. <\/p>\n
Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) on Saturday issued a circular in the name of licensed banks and financial institutions to reopen their services in the affected areas without the prior approval of the Rastra Bank. The bank has to inform the Nepal Rastra Bank within seven days of such transfer or adjustment. <\/p>\n
The massive floods in the Bhotekoshi River on Wednesday have destroyed the infrastructure of the branch offices of banks and financial institutions located in the highways and rural municipalities along the Bhotekoshi, Trishuli and Narayani rivers in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading and Chitwan districts. Some bank employees have also gone missing due to floods and landslides. <\/p>\n
Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has informed that efforts are being made to resume banking services in the areas affected by natural disasters at the earliest. In order to ensure the continuity of banking and payment services in these areas, banks and financial institutions have been provided necessary facilitation to operate services from alternative places including electronic means. In addition, the bank has encouraged the mobilization of necessary financial resources for the rescue, relief and rehabilitation of those affected by natural disasters.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
