KATHMANDU: The Federation of Nepal Cottage and Small Industries (FNCSI) has expressed sorrow over the loss of lives and property due to flash floods in the Bhotekoshi River in Timure, Syafrubesi and other areas of Rasuwa and urged the government for immediate rescue, relief and rehabilitation of the affected people. <\/p>\n
The Federation has said that the floods have caused a big loss to human settlements, markets, roads, bridges, government and private structures, business establishments, hydropower projects and other infrastructures. <\/p>\n
It has urged the government, security agencies, local levels, private sector and social organisations to accord top priority to search and rescue task at a time when many people and security personnel are still out of contact. <\/p>\n
The Federation has urged the government to immediately rescue people and entrepreneurs stranded in the flood-hit areas and shift them to safer places and to provide food, medicine, clothes and temporary shelter to the affected families. <\/p>\n
An effective early warning system and disaster risk reduction programmes should be implemented in the settlements and business areas along the rivers including Bhotekoshi and Trishuli in view of the possible risks in the coming days. <\/p>\n
It also urged the government to coordinate with the provincial, district and local officials and representatives of the Federation of Nepal Cottage and Small Industries to ensure the participation of the private sector in relief and rehabilitation efforts. <\/p>\n
Expressing solidarity with the affected citizens, industrialists and entrepreneurs and their families in this hour of disaster, the FNCCI has called for effective coordination and cooperation among the government, local level, security agencies, private sector, social organizations and the general public. The federation has also expressed its commitment to provide necessary support and coordination in relief, rescue and rehabilitation works in the affected areas. <\/p>\n
