The secretary-level decision of the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers today has made various decisions including search, rescue, relief, resumption of essential infrastructure and deduction of salaries of civil servants and deposit them in the rescue fund, expressing sorrow over the loss caused by floods in Bhotekoshi and lower coastal areas of Rasuwa district. The Ministry of Finance and the Office of the Comptroller General of Accounts General have decided to deduct the monthly salary of 2 days from the non-grade employees and 5 days from non-gazetted or equivalent employees, 7 days for non-gazetted employees or equivalent employees, and 10 days’ salary for gazetted first class and special class employees for the month of August and deposit them in the account of the Rescue Fund. This will increase the contribution of about Rs 360 million from the employees of the federal government to the rescue fund. <\/p>\n
It has also been decided to call on the employees working at the state government, local levels and all public bodies to contribute to the salary and wages relief fund. <\/p>\n
Expressing deep sorrow over the loss caused by the massive flood in the Bhotekoshi River and the lower bank area of Rasuwagadhi on August 23, the meeting also decided to pay heartfelt tribute to all those who lost their lives in the incident, express heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and wish for speedy recovery of the injured. <\/p>\n
The meeting also decided that the ministries and bodies concerned would immediately take forward the works of resumption of essential infrastructure including roads, bridges, drinking water, electricity and telecommunications damaged by the floods. <\/p>\n
Likewise, all ministries and agencies should mobilize their resources, means and human resources to make the disaster management works efficient and effective.
