Kathmandu. The Trump administration on Monday issued a proposed rule that would make the fee of more than $100,000 on H-1B visas for foreign workers official. <\/p>\n
President Trump temporarily imposed the tariffs last year. However, the court has stopped it. This new proposal has now been introduced. The increase in H-1B visa fees will be especially difficult for foreign workers. Those who are the biggest beneficiaries of this visa. <\/p>\n
The Trump administration on Monday proposed a fee of $103,265 for all H-1B visa applications that meet the annual threshold. This will include an additional category of 20,000 visas available to applicants with a master’s degree or above from a U.S. university. <\/p>\n
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) notice said the proposed fee would be charged in addition to the existing H-1B application fee. The department said that the fee would only apply to H-1B applications subject to the annual limit. A-1B applications that are not covered by the annual limit will not be covered. \u2019<\/p>\n
The department said the proposed fee is intended to cover expenses between various government departments. The separate fee is meant to simplify the accounting, allocating and reporting process for income generated. To achieve this, it is proposed to impose additional H-1B tariffs. <\/p>\n
The motion comes nearly a month after a federal appeals court dismissed a district judge’s order to strike down the Trump administration’s plan to impose a $100,000 fee on H-1B visa applications. <\/p>\n
The US issues 65,000 H-1B visas annually in a regular category. In addition, an additional 20,000 visas are available for foreign workers with a master’s degree or higher from U.S. universities. <\/p>\n
Under the H-1B programme, US companies can hire foreign workers in specific sectors such as technology, engineering, education and research.
