Yu Donglai, the founder of Pang Dong Lai, has a simple philosophy: &#8220;If you say you&#8217;re sad, don&#8217;t come to work.&#8221; Management is not allowed to deny or refuse such requests. \u2019<\/p>\n<p>The concept of the unhappy holiday policy comes from Pang Dong Lai, a retail chain in China&#8217;s Henan province. According to a report, during the 2024 China Supermarket Week, the company&#8217;s founder and chairman Yu Donglai announced that employees would be entitled to paid leave if they were mentally or emotionally unwell. <\/p>\n<p>According to a report in the South China Morning Post, employees are not forced to work when they are unhappy. &#8220;If employees are not happy, they don&#8217;t need to come to work,&#8221; Donglai said.
