Kathmandu. Dr KC has been staging a hunger strike for the past 11 days demanding quality of health education and health services. The government and Dr Govinda KC signed a 7-point agreement on Monday night.\u00a0Dr. KC has been on a hunger strike in Dhangadhi since last Thursday. The talks between Dr KC and the government talks team started on Saturday and reached an agreement on Monday. <\/p>\n
After reaching an agreement with the government negotiating team, Dr. KC has ended his hunger strike.\u00a0The 7-point agreement signed between the two sides has been signed on the issues of martyr Darshath Chand University of Health Sciences. <\/p>\n
1. Regarding the operation of a full-fledged teaching hospital at Shahid Dasharath Chand Health Sciences University, Geta, Kailali and to immediately manage the required human resources and run educational programs including<\/p>\n
MBBS.<\/p>\n
(a) To initiate the process for the operation of a hospital with at least 300 beds in accordance with clause (a) of sub-section 1 of Section 12 of the National Medical Education Act, 2075 at the martyr Dasharath Chand University of Health Sciences, Geta, Kailali. <\/p>\n
b) To immediately complete the educational preparations including recruitment of faculty manpower and approval of curriculum for the operation of educational programs including MBBS as approved by the University Assembly. <\/p>\n
c) The University will immediately make arrangements for the operation of the hospital including purchase of human resources and equipment required for operating a 300-bed teaching hospital. <\/p>\n
2. The bill designed to amend some Nepal acts related to the university will be presented to the government to take forward the process of amendment to the Martyr Dasharath Chand University of Health Sciences Act-2082 and to take the process of amendment process on the qualifications and appointments of the university officials from the current session of the federal parliament. <\/p>\n
Medical Education Commission will determine seats as per the criteria specified by the National Medical Education Act, 2075, National Medical Education Regulations, 2077 and Quality Evaluation and Seat Determination Procedure, 2083. Even if the private educational institutions do not increase the capacity of student enrollment, there will be no hindrance in increasing the number of seats in public educational institutions. 4. To submit a proposal to the Government of Nepal to form a high-level taskforce to study and submit a report regarding the implementation of the provision that the medical educational institutions operating within the state will be gradually considered as non-profit and service-oriented as per the provision made in Clause 47 of the National Medical Education Act, 2075. <\/p>\n
5. The federal and provincial governments shall coordinate and facilitate the expansion of necessary infrastructure and services with priority for the protection of the rights and national self-esteem of the people living in bordering areas. <\/p>\n
6. Stern action should be taken against the perpetrators of the incidents that took place on September 7 and 24, 2002 and further promptness would be given in the context of the necessary process for conducting an impartial investigation into the corruption and crimes committed by high-ranking politicians and officials since 2046 BS. <\/p>\n
7. The Ministry of Education and Sports shall immediately form a task force to study the implementation status of past agreements and submit a report within three months.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
