US Senator Tim Sheehy has introduced a bill that would ban H-1B visas. The bill, introduced in the Senate, aims to suspend the issuance of new H-1B visas for three years and legalize the $100,000 fee imposed by the Trump administration on these visas. US courts have overturned President Donald Trump’s decision to raise visa fees.

Trump’s Republican Rep. Tim Shehee introduced the bill on Thursday. This bill will have a huge impact on foreigners who want to go to work in the United States.

Senator Shihi said, “We should not issue visas that threaten the rights of American workers. The bill comes after a US federal court struck down the $100,000 fee imposed on H-1B visas. ’

“The H-1B program was created to address workforce shortages for specialized, hard-to-fill positions,” Sheehy said in a statement. “Qualified and hard-working Americans should not be replaced by cheap foreign workers,” the statement said. ’

According to Senator Sheehy, this bill puts American workers first. “The bill addresses the loopholes that facilitate abuse. “It strengthens security regulations and puts our national security interests first,” he said. ’

The H-1B End of Abuse Act calls for major changes to the entire system. These include a three-year suspension of new A-1B visas, a reduction in the annual limit to $25,000, a salary cap of $200,000, an end to Optional Practical Training (OTP) and a moratorium on converting to green cards. This will completely change America’s efficient migration system.

The act proposes to permanently eliminate the irregular lottery system under the law, replace it with a salary-based selection system, and ban concurrent employment and third-party employee agency models. It also prohibits H-1B visa holders from bringing their dependents to the US. It also prohibits government agencies from sponsoring or employing nonimmigrant visa holders.

The proposed legislation aims to remove work authorization for foreign students and certain exchange visitors by removing programs such as OTPs. After a 3-year visa suspension, the bill aims to resume the program with much stricter rules and higher standards.

It also seeks to impose a $100,000 fee set by the Trump administration for each H-1B visa petition. The proposed bill is supported by the Immigration Accountability Project and the American Immigration Reform Association (FAIR).

The H-1B visa program facilitates the issuance of nonimmigrant visas. Under this program, US companies can hire skilled foreign workers for specific roles. About 65,000 visas are issued annually. An additional 20,000 visas are available for those with advanced degrees.

U.S. tech companies rely heavily on the program to hire thousands of employees annually from other countries. Trump tried to tighten the H-1B visa fee in September, but his move was struck down by a court that ruled it unfair. –Agency

Kathmandu.
