Kathmandu. A jewelry shopkeeper at Amarpath in Butwal stole jewelry worth Rs 150 million from his shop to claim insurance money. <\/p>\n
Superintendent of Police (SP) Janak Bahadur Shahi of District Police Office, Rupandehi said a preliminary investigation revealed that shop proprietor Deepak BK, 41, and his helper Nabin BK had robbed the shop at night. <\/p>\n
According to the police, a complaint of theft was received from the shop owner Deepak BK on the night of Jestha 17 when he was on a visit to Pokhara. During the investigation, it was revealed that Deepak had committed the theft with the help of his worker Nabin BK, 47, of Tilottama Municipality-2. <\/p>\n
According to the police, Deepak had gone to Pokhara on Jestha 16 to cover up the real incident. He even booked a room in the hotel. But on the evening of reaching the hotel, he returned to Butwal and with the help of Naveen, a worker who was in Butwal, broke the lock of the shutter and stole it. <\/p>\n
After the theft, both of them had headed towards Butwal via the bridge over the Tinau river.\u00a0 He again went to stay at a hotel in Pokhara on the same night via Siddha Baba. Deepak stayed in Pokhara all day on the 17th to pretend that he was unaware of the incident. On the morning of the 18th, he returned to Butwal from Pokhara in a public bus, as if he had received information about the theft in the shop. <\/p>\n
From the circumstances of the incident, the police found that the theft was not natural and that it was premeditated. The police had started investigation against the shopkeeper after he found the scene of the shutter of the shop being cut off, the scene of the jewelry being taken out from the drawer and chest inside the shop. <\/p>\n
During the investigation, Deepak was seen walking on the streets of Butwal on the night of the 16th. Police had also found him returning to Pokhara with his vehicle after the theft. <\/p>\n
Superintendent of Police (SP) Shahi said that the shop owner Deepak had committed such an incident in the double bet of collecting the insurance claim amount and stealing the jewelry of the borrowers who had mortgaged the mortgage. <\/p>\n
