KATHMANDU: The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCCI) have jointly held a B2B meeting in Kathmandu on Monday. Discussions were held between the industrialists and businessmen of both countries during the visit led by FNCCI Vice-President Naresh Lal Shrestha. On the occasion, industrialists and entrepreneurs associated with Ceylon Chamber said that they were ready to invest in Nepal. <\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the occasion, Vice-President of FNCCI Naresh Lal Shrestha said that Nepal has the potential to generate more than 40,000 MW of electricity immediately. He further said that Nepal now has a two-thirds majority government and the government itself has been facilitating for the promotion of foreign investment. He also informed that the government of Nepal has rolled out the red carpet for the welcome of foreign investment by adopting a one-door policy for foreign investment. <\/p>\n<p>He urged Sri Lankan industrialists and businessmen to set up industries in Nepal as well as in Sri Lanka as there is sufficient raw materials required for the herbs industry. Stating that Nepal has been exporting raw materials required for the herbs industry at a cheaper price, he informed the Sri Lankan side to process the herbs and sell them in the days to come. Stating that the government has adopted an easy policy for the promotion of investment in hydropower, he said investment worth billions of rupees was necessary accordingly. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;On behalf of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), we will facilitate Sri Lankan industrialists to bring investment in Nepal in a smooth manner,&#8221; said Shrestha, adding, &#8220;If you invest a large amount in Nepal, we will talk to the Government of Nepal and facilitate it.&#8221; &#8216;<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, First Secretary at the Embassy of Nepal in Sri Lanka, Sagar Bhandari, said that Nepal has a conducive environment for investment as the country has a stable government. Stating that there is high potential of hydropower in Nepal, he urged the investors to invest in Nepal. He also urged the investors to invest in tourism and Ayurveda industry, saying there was high potential for investment in Tepal. <\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Secretary General of Ceylon Chamber Aleka Perera said that Sri Lankan industrialists were ready to invest in tourism infrastructure, hydropower and medicinal herbs industry in Nepal. &#8220;Sri Lanka is far ahead in terms of herbs industry and Nepal also has sufficient raw materials for the same, so he was ready to establish such industries in Nepal,&#8221; he said. He also said that there is a possibility of tourism industry in Nepal like Sri Lanka, adding that they would invest in a big amount if the Nepal government facilitated it. During the seminar, Sri Lankan industrialists and businesspersons had shown interest to invest in Nepal&#8217;s hydropower sector as well. <\/p>\n<p>She also said that Nepal was ready to invest in a big amount in tourism, medicinal herbs industry and hydropower of Nepal. On the occasion, the Sri Lankan industrialists urged the Nepali industrialists and businesspersons not to facilitate them regarding how to invest in Nepal. He also said that Nepal and Sri Lanka have been importing and exporting goods for a long time and they were ready to promote it further in the days to come. <\/p>\n<p>Similarly, FNJ central executive member Bhakta Bahadur Hamal made a presentation on trade relations between the two countries. He also appealed to Sri Lankan industrialists and businesspersons to invest in Nepal. President of Foreign Trade Association Shiva Kumar Agrawal also gave a presentation on bilateral trade in the program. <\/p>\n<p>The delegation includes central executive members Bhakta Bahadur Hamal, Pashupati Dev Pandey, Sagar Dhakal, Bidur Dhamala, Nirajan Chalaune and Biplav Adhikari. On the occasion, other Sri Lankan industrialists also urged the Sri Lankan industrialists to invest in Nepal.
