It is an old tradition to give return gifts to guests at weddings. However, a wedding in Nanded district of Maharashtra, India, has become a unique example of social anxiety. There, a bridegroom and his family have given the ultimate gift of protection to every person in the village, involving the entire village in their wedding celebration. <\/p>\n
On the auspicious occasion of their marriage, groom Siddheshwar Pethkar and his family gifted accident insurance coverage worth Rs 1 lakh each to all 3,465 villagers. This unique initiative has resulted in a total group accident insurance coverage of Rs 33.60 crore. <\/p>\n
The wedding, which took place on May 20, was a celebration of traditional rituals, band music and a lavish banquet. However, when it came to ‘Return Gift’, the Pethkar family’s decision surprised the entire sector and garnered praise. <\/p>\n
Why was this decision made? <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n In rural areas, people often die prematurely due to snake bites, lightning or agricultural accidents. Such accidents cause great pain to poor families. As a result, the family has taken this strange decision keeping in mind social security. <\/p>\n The Pethkar family has purchased a group accident insurance policy in the name of Gram Panchayat. The voter list of the village has been submitted to the insurance company. This ensures that every eligible villager can get insurance without discrimination or paperwork. This policy will be valid for 1 year. However, the groom’s family did not disclose the total cost of purchasing this insurance policy.
