Medicines worth around Rs 125 million are rotting in the government warehouse at a time when people in remote areas have not been able to take medicines on time. <\/p>\n<p>According to the 63rd annual report of the Office of the Auditor General, medical goods and kits worth more than Rs 90 million purchased by government-owned health institutions have been wasted. <\/p>\n<p>According to the Comptroller and Auditor General, Rs 4 crore 72 lakh 20 thousand was purchased for 28 types at the Department of Health Services, Rs 47.7 million for six types of National Tuberculosis Control Center, Rs 1 crore 43 lakh 75 thousand for 601 types of Medical Sciences (Bir Hospital), Rs 1 crore 19 lakh 96 thousand for BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences and Rs 1 crore 23 lakh 56 thousand for Teku Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital The medical supplies and kits have expired and are not in use. <\/p>\n<p>The government health institution should immediately replace the medicine purchased by the supplier from the supplier if there is excess stock without buying or selling it in case of expiry or breakage.
