Kathmandu. Vehicular movement along the Khurkot-Bhakundebasi section of the BP Highway has been completely banned from 5:00 pm to 5:00 am with effect from May 5. <\/p>\n
Issuing a notice today, the District Administration Office of Kavre informed about this. Following a meeting of the Chief District Officers of Kavre and Sindhuli districts following a directive from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), the District Security Committee has decided to ban the operation of vehicles along the Khurkot-Bhakundebasi road section at night. Chief District Officer of Kavre, Gopal Kumar Adhikari, said that the decision will be effective until further notice. <\/p>\n
CDO Adhikari said that the decision has been made to ban the vehicular movement for a short period at any time on the basis of the need in view of the possible rainfall, flood in Roshikhola and weather condition even after the said period. <\/p>\n
More than 28 kilometres section of the under-construction BP Highway is connected to Roshikhola. The BP Highway was damaged by the flood that occurred in Roshi River following the rainy season on September 10-12, 2081. Currently, vehicular movement is being operated through temporary diversions. Permanent reconstruction work is also underway. <\/p>\n
Even now, even when there is little rainfall, the floods have affected vehicular movement in Roshi. Five vehicles were trapped in the flooded Roshi rivulet at Ghumune Charsayabesi of Roshi Rural Municipality-7 on Monday. “The decision has been taken keeping in mind the situation where the lives of 89 people are at risk as it was very difficult to rescue the stranded passengers during the night and also in view of the directive of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority,” CDO Adhikari said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
