Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Nepal Insurance Authority (NEA) has opened up 80 percent foreign direct investment (FDI) in Institutional Insurance Surveyor Institutions. The authority has opened the foreign direct investment (FDI) in the surveyor business through the Insurance Surveyor Directive 2083 BS. <\/p>\n
Sub-section (1) of Section 19 of the directive has a provision that a branch office can be established or a company can be established in joint investment and operate the work. Similarly, sub-section (2) states that a foreign surveyor who is willing to establish an insurance surveyor’s corporate organization in Nepal jointly with a licensed surveyor with the authority may make foreign direct investment with the company holding up to 80 percent of the total paid-up capital of such an institution. <\/p>\n
Foreign investment in reinsurance broker business<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n }<\/p>\n The authority has also made provisions related to foreign direct investment in the business of reinsurance brokers. Clause 17 of the Reinsurance Broker Directive 2078 BS states that a foreign reinsurance broker can operate a contact or branch office in Nepal by depositing 50,000 US dollars. <\/p>\n Similarly, foreign reinsurance brokers who are willing to open a joint reinsurance broker organization with a Nepali reinsurance broker can invest up to 55 percent share. <\/p>\n Clause 3 of the directive has set the minimum authorized capital and paid-up capital of Rs 50 million for the operation of reinsurance broker business.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Kathmandu.
