Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The single government of Rastriya Swatantra Party (Rastriya Swatantra Party) has called for stopping the practice of artificial insurance claims and payment in insurance sector. <\/p>\n
Releasing the current economic status of the country today, the Ministry of Finance stressed the need to stop the anomalies seen in the insurance sector. “Artificial insurance claims and payment system should be stopped on the one hand by carrying out comprehensive reforms in the insurance business,” the position paper reads, adding that the scope of insurance service should be expanded on the other hand, risk management and long-term capital mobilization. \u2019<\/p>\n
The Balen Shah-led government has also questioned the improvement of insurance companies established with government investment. “The institutional capacity of the insurance companies established with government investment is weak,” the position paper states. <\/p>\n
After this stance of the government, questions have been raised on the regulation and regulatory capacity of the Nepal Insurance Authority. Now, the Insurance Authority needs to take necessary steps in collaboration with the government for the improvement of the insurance sector. <\/p>\n
Currently, there are 14 life insurance companies, 14 non-life insurance companies, 7 micro insurance companies and 2 reinsurance companies in Nepal. Insurance penetration has reached 49.92 percent as of March 2082. <\/p>\n
