Kathmandu. The government has issued new rules and strict directives to discourage the uncontrolled use of vehicles in government agencies. The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers has issued a circular to all ministries, commissions, secretariats and government agencies directing them to immediately return the four-wheelers being used against the standards and keep them in the ‘vehicle bridge’. <\/p>\n
In the letter issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, according to the prevailing law, only the officers of the first class or above gazetted will be allowed to get a separate vehicle. However, since a large number of four-wheelers are being used by the lower level employees, such vehicles have been asked to be deposited in the government ‘bridge’ immediately. <\/p>\n
The letter pointed out the need to significantly reduce the use of vehicles to reduce the fuel cost due to the steep increase in the price of petroleum products in the international market and in Nepal as well. <\/p>\n
This step has been taken to improve the situation in which some officials who are legally entitled to the facility of vehicles are not getting the vehicle but those who do not get the facility are using it. <\/p>\n
From now on, if a vehicle has to be used for office work, it will have to be compulsorily coordinated with the administrative division or branch. In addition, it has been made mandatory to keep a record of the use of each vehicle in the logbook. <\/p>\n
The letter, signed by Netra Prasad Pokharel, section officer at the Office of the Prime Minister, urged all the bodies concerned to strictly abide by this decision.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
