Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The third Mandikhatar Amateur Tennis Tournament-2026 concluded in Kathmandu on Saturday. On the final day of the tournament, which started from April 15, the final matches in eight different categories were held on Saturday and the winners were decided. <\/p>\n
Bhishma Jung Gurung defeated Seemanta Gurung 3-6, 6-4 (10-7) to win the title of the singles category of over 35 years (35 plus). In men’s doubles, the pair of Meghendra Prakash Giri and Bhishma Jung Gurung beat Santosh Bhandari and Harak Singh Dhami 6-2, 6-2 to win the title. <\/p>\n
In the above 45 age category, Dev Chhetri defeated Amit Gurung 6-3, 4-1 (retired) to win the title. In men’s doubles, Dev Chhetri and Rabin Gurung beat Degendra Shrestha and Mahesh Shrestha 2-6, 7-6 (10-3). <\/p>\n
In the 55-plus (55-plus) singles event, Ashish Sigdel defeated Uttam Bogati 4-6, 6-1 (10-3) to win the title. In women’s doubles, Shiva Sedhai and Himal Shah won the title. Gurung and Degendra Shrestha defeated the pair of Degendra Shrestha 5-7, 6-2 (10-3) to win the title. <\/p>\n
Kamal Thapa defeated Pabitra Rayamajhi 6-4, 6-1 to lift the champion’s trophy in singles over 65 years. Likewise, in men’s doubles, Kamal Thapa and Chamba Dhandup beat Dhruba Gurung and Rabindra Das 4-6, 6-3 (10-5). <\/p>\n
The tournament organized by Mandikhatar Tennis Club has played an important role in increasing the enthusiasm and level of amateur tennis players in Nepal. More than 120 players of various age groups took part in the five-day tournament. <\/p>\n
Similarly, the President’s Cup has also been announced for the development of the game of tennis. The tournament will be held in the Davis Cup format in singles and doubles. Technical Director Krishna Ghale informed that all the clubs of Nepal will be able to compete in the tournament.
