Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The single government of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has expressed high commitment to respect the agricultural profession and make it self-reliant. <\/p>\n
In the 18-point national commitment prepared in accordance with the manifestos, pledges and commitments of the six major political parties, the Balen Shah government has pledged to carry out policy, legal and customs reforms including trade agreement with India to support import substitution in the agriculture sector. <\/p>\n
Likewise, the government has a policy of giving special priority to agro enterprises and industries, and adopt measures for tax exemption, customs concession and investment encouragement. The government has set a target to implement the land utilization programme along with the use of barren agricultural land by reviewing the land use plan. <\/p>\n
The Balen-led government has adopted the policy of providing Kisan Credit Card, insurance and concessional loan to make agriculture respectable and safe. The government has committed to protect the landless, small farmers and marginalized groups as well as provide financial subsidies to small farmers for agricultural produce.
