Kathmandu. From the end of 2025 to the beginning of 2026, there was a horrific cyberattack on government agencies in Mexico. An unidentified man breached the security walls of nine Mexican government bases and a financial institution using artificial intelligence (AI) tools such as cloudcode and GPT-4.1. More than 150 GB of sensitive data was stolen from the attack, revealing the identities of about 195 million people. <\/p>\n

Previously, it took a large group of skilled hackers to steal such a large amount of data. But this time, AI made it much easier and faster. According to a report by ‘Gambit Security’, the hacker asked the AI to write more than 5,000 commands. <\/p>\n

The attacker deceived Claude by falsely claiming to be a security examiner. Claude wrote about 17,000 lines of complex software code needed to steal the data. When the cloud refused to do anything, the hackers used GPT to plan how to enter the government system and which data to prioritize. Using two different AI systems, the security software could not even identify it as suspicious activity. <\/p>\n
