Kathmandu. Dil Sundar Shrestha, who has been active in the business world of Nepal for the last 40 years, is not only a successful businessman but also a person who has been contributing to society, education, literature and business sectors. In his professional life spanning over four decades, his 40 years of professional and social career show that he has moved ahead with the motto of ‘contribute to the society and the country in every way’ rather than personal gains. Therefore, he is not limited to the personal level but has been directly and indirectly contributing to the development of the country by working directly and indirectly in the social, economic, political, educational and literary fields. <\/p>\n
Shrestha was born to Krishna Sundar Shrestha and Krishna Pyari Shrestha on 16 Baisakh 2013 in Dhulikhel, Kavre. He received his primary schooling from the eastern hill district of Sankhuwasabha, and has always been proud of his birth parents. He says, “The right path shown by my parents has contributed to my success in every step. \u2019<\/p>\n
Shrestha, who came to Kathmandu for higher studies, completed his Bachelor’s Degree from Shankar Dev College. After studying management, he decided to put his academic qualifications into practice and join the business field due to his diligent personality and passion for business. <\/p>\n
Professional life<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n }<\/p>\n Shrestha, who started his professional career from Katari of rural Udayapur, is now a nationally established person by investing in enterprises, banking, textile, overseas import-export and hydropower. He started the trans-ocean import and export business at the national level, and today he has established himself as an established businessman in the multi-sector. <\/p>\n According to Shrestha, despite his investment in other business sectors, he has invested in the hydropower sector not only for profit but also for the sake of resources and his own resources. He played a leading role in setting up RM Investment Limited under his direct leadership. Currently, about 600 MW of hydropower projects are in operation under the group. <\/p>\n Some of the projects have already started commercial production while some are in the construction phase. Dhusa Khola Hydropower (155 MW), Balefi Hydropower, Bindhwasini Hydropower and Peoples Hydropower Company are among the hydropower projects of the group. Shrestha’s professional life has been extended in parallel in both the village and the city. This shows that he is working with the aim of contributing to the economic and social development of both the village and the city. <\/p>\n A glaring example of this can be seen in Araniko Bikas Bank, which was established under Shrestha’s leadership 20 years ago. He had kept the central office and branch office of the bank outside Kathmandu. He made Kavre and Sindhuli the main areas of his bank and contributed to the expansion of financial access and employment generation in the rural areas. The bank has now been merged with Century Commercial as per the policy of Nepal Rastra Bank. <\/p>\n Business principles and lifestyle<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n }<\/p>\n Simple, easy-going and humble, Shrestha never showed arrogance in his professional life or personal life. He is positioning himself as a representative of the people of the land. He maintains cordial relations with everyone in the village and town. His relationship is such that in today’s day, everyone from all over the country to big businessmen comes to him for advice. <\/p>\n Some examples of Shrestha who came into contact with him while doing business in Katari of Katari of the eastern hilly district of Nepal and became successful entrepreneurs in Solu, Khotang and Okhaldhunga can be seen even today. His continuity continues to this day. No one who has been in his company and has done business has failed. He doesn’t treat anyone, big or small. They treat them equally. If someone raises a problem, they try to solve it by saying, ‘This is my problem too’. He is a businessman who has made his team a successful businessman. There is a collectivity in his business. <\/p>\n According to Shrestha, one should never be arrogant and pretentious in life because it harms oneself. Due to his simple nature, business acumen, and amiability, he has been continuously in leadership because of the trust of businessmen since his professional life. As a result of this, he is busy in the election campaign across the country as a candidate for the vice-president of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI). <\/p>\n Shrestha’s business approach has always been linked to the economic and social development of the community. He believes that development should be done in coordination between the village and the city. <\/p>\n Due to Shrestha’s professional success, leadership skills, and coordinating role, he is always in the eyes of the business leadership and there is a competition to get him in their group in the business elections. He is known as a selfless businessman. If any businessman asks for help regarding his or her organization’s problem, he is known to be able to reach out to the state level and solve his problems. Due to his simplicity and cooperative spirit, he has become the first choice of businessmen of the district and town due to his ability to convey his and his business to any level and person. <\/p>\n Despite being established as a national entrepreneur, Shrestha is leading the district and town industrialists with the background of establishing himself as a businessman 40 years ago. In the past also, he has come as a representative of the district municipality when he comes to the leadership of the federation. <\/p>\n Social Life, Literary Field and Journalism<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Shrestha has also contributed to social service and literature. He has worked as the publisher editor of Garima Quarterly, a popular literary magazine in Nepal in the 40s. The magazine is still established today. Due to his attachment to literature and journalism, he has played the role of the General Secretary of the Parijat Memorial Foundation, an organization established to keep the contribution of Nepal’s established litterateur Parijat alive and expand the influence of literature in the society. <\/p>\n Shrestha is equally fond of social life and social service. As a result, he served as the President of Rotary Club Dhulikhel (2007-2008). He is still active with the same spirit of service. He is not only a person confined to social and economic life, but he is also a lover of education. His passion for education is the same. <\/p>\n Shrestha is interested in education at the local and national level. Shrestha, who is also known as an education lover, has also contributed to the education sector. He has completed his successful tenure as the Chairman of Sanjeevani Campus in Dhulikhel. <\/p>\n He requests Shrestha to take the leadership of any organization in the society. He has been leading the Senior Citizen Service Center (Old Age Home) since 2059 BS.
