Kathmandu. Nepal Insurance Authority, Karnali Province Office has organized a discussion and interaction program with the local level on insurance and insurance awareness program targeted to the students. Birendranagar Municipality Mayor Mohan Maya Dhakal was the chief guest at the interaction program organized at the meeting hall of Birendranagar Municipality on March 12. <\/p>\n
The program was attended by around 50 people including the Chief Administrative Officer of the Municipality, ward chairpersons, employees of various branches, farmers and locals. <\/p>\n
Presentations were made on the possibilities of risk in Nepal, the status of disaster, stages of disaster management, role of local level and stakeholders in disaster management and importance of insurance in post-disaster reconstruction. <\/p>\n
On the occasion, Chief of Nepal Insurance Authority’s Karnali Province Office, Nil Prasad Lamichhane, informed the meeting about agriculture insurance, home insurance, accident insurance and health insurance. <\/p>\n
During the program, farmers complained that the insurance companies were not enthusiastic about the insurance and the process was cumbersome. Responding to the query, Lamichhane said that this situation has emerged as the companies do not get much profit from the agricultural insurance. <\/p>\n
He also said that the problem could be resolved if the Nepal Insurance Authority (NEA) has fixed district-level responsibilities to prevent the agriculture insurance from being rejected and if the local levels mobilize technicians effectively. <\/p>\n
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Mohanmaya Dhakal said that insurance is very important for the general public and the government should encourage the government to strengthen the system to ensure compensation rather than providing direct compensation. He also stressed that the local levels should be active to create conducive environment for the same. The program was conducted by Bishwo Raj Bhattarai, Assistant First of Nepal Insurance Authority. <\/p>\n
Meanwhile, a student-targeted insurance awareness program was held at Surkhet Multiple Campus, Birendranagar, Surkhet on March 12, 2082. About 130 undergraduate students and teachers participated in the program. <\/p>\n
In the program, Bipana Panthi, Assistant Director of Nepal Insurance Authority and Neel Prasad Lamichhane, Chief of Karnali Province Office, made a presentation on the introduction, types, importance of insurance, some policies and insurance rates. The students and teachers who participated in the program inquired about the necessity of home insurance, accident insurance and health insurance and expressed interest about the process of being associated with the insurance. <\/p>\n
The program concluded with clear answers to various questions raised by Nepal Insurance Authority, Karnali Province Office Chief Neel Prasad Lamichhane. <\/p>\n
According to the Karnali Province Office of Nepal Insurance Authority, such programs will enhance general public’s understanding of insurance and will contribute significantly to expand insurance in agriculture and disaster risk management. <\/p>\n
