Kathmandu. \u00a0Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Vice-President and strong contender for the future leadership Robin Prasad Sherchan has stressed the need to establish the organization on the foundation of rule and statute by ending the divisions within the NRNA. Speaking at the announcement of the candidacy of Ram Sharan Simkhadad for the post of General Secretary in the upcoming 12th International General Convention, Sherchan said, “We should always put the institution above the individual. The divisions and discord seen in the past have weakened the organization, now is the time to come together by including all. “<\/p>\n
Expressing his support to the candidacy of Ram Sharan Simkhada, Vice-President Sherchan described him as an experienced person who understands the internal system and procedures of the organization well. <\/p>\n
Recalling the bitter experiences of the past, Sherchan said that the election system and process should be made more credible. “Holding an election is a beautiful aspect of democracy, but the culture of opening another institution and not accepting the losing side after the election is not going to lead us anywhere,” he said. Therefore, I believe that the leadership should be elected on the basis of consensus. “<\/p>\n
“There is no alternative to common leadership and strong unity to take the issues of rights of millions of Nepalis living abroad, especially the full implementation of non-resident Nepali citizenship, protection of Nepal’s property and voting rights abroad,” he said. <\/p>\n
Stating that he was ready for the next leadership, he pledged that he would always be active to protect the prestige of NRNA and to connect the Nepalis of the second generation to the motherland.
