Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has issued a statement for the current fiscal year 2082. It has released data on the current economic and financial situation of the country as of the second quarter of 2018. According to the statistics, the economic and financial condition of the country is positive. <\/p>\n<p>According to the data, the year-on-year consumer price inflation stood at 2.42 percent in January 2018. It had decreased to 5.41 per cent in the corresponding month of the previous year. <\/p>\n<p>In the first six months of the current fiscal year, merchandise exports increased by 43.8 percent to Rs. It has reached Rs 142.02 billion. Such exports had grown by 31.8 percent in the same period of the previous year. Destination-wise, exports to India and other countries increased 57.0 percent and 10.7 percent respectively whereas exports to China decreased 66.7 percent in the review period. <\/p>\n<p>Total merchandise imports increased by 14.2 percent to Rs. It has reached Rs 939.02 billion. Such imports had increased by 7.1 percent in the same period of the previous year. Destination-wise, imports from India, China and other countries increased 5.9 percent, 22.1 percent and 32.4 percent respectively. <\/p>\n<p>In the review period, the total merchandise trade deficit increased by 10.1 percent to Rs. It has reached Rs 7.97 trillion. Such deficit had increased by 4.4 per cent in the same period of the previous year. <\/p>\n<p>The remittance inflow has increased by 39.1 percent till mid-January of the current fiscal year. It has reached Rs 1,062.93 billion. The remittance inflow had grown by 4.2 per cent in the same period of the previous year. In the month of Poush 2082, the remittance inflow was Rs. 192.62 billion. In the same month of the previous year, the remittance inflow was Rs. It was Rs 122.44 billion. <\/p>\n<p>During the review period, the current account stood at Rs. It has surplus of Rs 429.91 billion. In the same period of the previous year, the current account was Rs. It had a surplus of Rs 165.67 billion. <\/p>\n<p>During the review period, the balance of payment position was Rs. It has savings of Rs 501.24 billion.
