Kathmandu. The Supreme Court (SC) has not given continuity to the interim order issued by Sharad Ojha on his application, paving the way for the appointment of the chairman of the Nepal Insurance Authority. <\/p>\n
However, it is a matter of curiosity for the insurance sector whether the elected government will go ahead with the process of appointing the chairman of the Insurance Authority, which has been without a permanent leader for a long time, or if the elected government will end this confusion after the election. <\/p>\n
The meeting of the Council of Ministers held on August 9 last year had formed a three-member committee under the convenorship of National Planning Commission Vice-Chairman Prof Dr Shivaraj Adhikari. Finance Secretary Ghanashyam Upadhyay and Dr Khom Raj Kharel are the members of the committee. We will have to wait for some time to know whether the recommendations of this committee will continue or if the Council of Ministers will form another committee to seek re-applications. <\/p>\n
A division bench of Justices Nahakul Subedi and Tek Prasad Dhungana issued the order on Sunday. <\/p>\n
A single bench of Justice Sharanga Subedi of the Supreme Court issued an interim order on September 9 (the same day as the Jenji rebellion) and paved the way for Ojha to continue as the chairman of the NEA. Ojha had filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court seeking an interim order soon after the deadline for the appointment of the new chairman expired. <\/p>\n
A meeting of the Council of Ministers on August 18 had sacked the then chairman of NRA Sharad Ojha citing lack of work experience.
