The International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) has released its new strategic document ‘IAIS Roadmap 2026′ with the aim of making the global insurance sector safe, stable and trustworthy. 27’ has been released. The roadmap provides a clear direction on how insurance supervision will be made more robust, risk-sensitive and future-oriented over the next two years.

According to the IAIS, the need of the hour is to make the supervision system timely in view of the emerging risks in the global insurance market, digital transformation, the climate crisis and changes in capital structure.

More stringent on risk identification of insurance markets

}

According to the new roadmap, IAIS plans to strengthen the Global Insurance Market Monitoring Exercise (GME). It will conduct an in-depth analysis of the growing structural risks in areas such as life insurance, reinsurance and alternative asset-based investments. In particular, the IAIS will create an environment in which supervisors can recognize the impact of new business models and risk-shifting trends on long-term financial stability.

Concrete steps towards implementation of insurance capital criteria

Another important aspect of the IAIS roadmap is the plan to make the Insurance Capital Standard (ICS) more effective in practice. The standards for capital adequacy, risk measurement and public disclosure for internationally active insurance groups will be made more clear and transparent.
