No new applications will be accepted during this period. This has created difficulties for those who want to bring their parents or grandparents. <\/p>\n
Immigration experts are advising people to get super visas. It allows parents or grandparents to stay in Canada for up to 5 years and is renewable. However, it does not provide permanent residency. <\/p>\n
A large number of applications for parents and grandparents are pending in Canada. According to the 2023 data, the number of pending applications in this category has crossed 40,000. <\/p>\n
Faced with a huge backlog of applications in the PGP category, the Canadian government first decided to remove the large backlog. To do this, Canada implemented a moratorium on applications in 2025. The moratorium will now come into effect in 2026. <\/p>\n
