Efforts have been made to revive the ‘Kathmandu National Medical College Teaching Hospital’ by starting health care services from a multi-storey building built for residential purposes in Ghattekulo on Friday. <\/p>\n
Although he received a letter of intent from the Ministry of Education in 2068 BS for the operation of this medical college, Dr. The building had been operating for residential purposes and as a liaison office of the Ansari family for almost a decade and a half after the government denied permission due to KC’s agitation. Due to the decision taken by the government based on the recommendation of the Medical Education Commission, the permission to operate the teaching hospital was not obtained. <\/p>\n
Although the teaching hospital has not received the letter of intent or license to operate, its operator has brought it into operation under the name of ‘Kathmandu National Medical College Teaching Hospital’ without mentioning the word ‘proposed’. <\/p>\n
Ansari said they had filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court last year after the Supreme Court ordered the restoration of the license of Jhapa-based businessman Durga Prasain’s B&C Medical College. “The Supreme Court did not give approval in our favour as the hospital was not in operation,” he said, adding, “We believe that after two years, at least after 2084 BS, we will get the approval.” <\/p>\n
Ansari also said that there is a plan to start nursing programs immediately and teach MBBS and post graduate levels after getting permission. <\/p>\n
