Kathmandu. India and Pakistan, two South Asian neighbours, have been locked in a ceasefire over the past few days. <\/p>\n
After lengthy talks brokered by the United States, the two countries agreed to end the conflict immediately. The Ministry of External Affairs said in a press briefing this afternoon that the ceasefire has been stopped with effect from 5 pm. <\/p>\n
Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Isaac Dar also said on social media that the two countries have agreed to a ceasefire with immediate effect. “Pakistan has always strived for peace and security in the region. <\/p>\n
Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced on his social media that both countries have agreed to a complete and immediate ceasefire. He congratulated both the countries for their understanding and wisdom. <\/p>\n
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said he was pleased to announce that the two countries had agreed to an immediate cease-fire, adding that the two countries had agreed to hold talks in a neutral location. <\/p>\n
Vice President J.D. Vance, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and other senior officials were present in the meeting. <\/p>\n
Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated after the terror attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir on April 14. At least 26 people, including a Nepali, were killed in a terror attack in Pahalgam. <\/p>\n
